Setting Up Slack Webhook Notifications
Receive real-time downtime and recovery alerts in your Slack workspace.
Step 1: Create a Slack Incoming Webhook
- Go to the Slack API page for Incoming Webhooks
- Create a new app (or use an existing one)
- Enable Incoming Webhooks for your app
- Click Add New Webhook to Workspace
- Choose the channel where alerts should be posted
- Copy the webhook URL (starts with
https://hooks.slack.com/services/...)
Step 2: Add the Webhook to Your Monitor
- Open the monitor's detail page in Blimey
- Click the Settings tab
- Scroll to the Slack Webhook section
- Paste your webhook URL
- Click Save
Step 3: Test the Webhook
After saving, click the Test button to send a test message to your Slack channel. You should see a message confirming the connection works.
Alert Format
Slack alerts include:
- Color-coded sidebar (red for downtime, green for recovery)
- Monitor name and URL
- Error details (for downtime alerts)
- Timestamp
