Setting Up Slack Webhook Notifications

Receive real-time downtime and recovery alerts in your Slack workspace.

Step 1: Create a Slack Incoming Webhook

  1. Go to the Slack API page for Incoming Webhooks
  2. Create a new app (or use an existing one)
  3. Enable Incoming Webhooks for your app
  4. Click Add New Webhook to Workspace
  5. Choose the channel where alerts should be posted
  6. Copy the webhook URL (starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/...)

Step 2: Add the Webhook to Your Monitor

  1. Open the monitor's detail page in Blimey
  2. Click the Settings tab
  3. Scroll to the Slack Webhook section
  4. Paste your webhook URL
  5. Click Save

Step 3: Test the Webhook

After saving, click the Test button to send a test message to your Slack channel. You should see a message confirming the connection works.

Alert Format

Slack alerts include:

  • Color-coded sidebar (red for downtime, green for recovery)
  • Monitor name and URL
  • Error details (for downtime alerts)
  • Timestamp
