Not Receiving Alert Emails
If you're not getting email alerts when a monitor goes down, check these common causes.
1. Email Notifications Are Disabled
Each monitor has its own email notification toggle:
- Open the monitor's detail page
- Go to the Settings tab
- Make sure Email notifications is toggled on
2. Check Your Spam/Junk Folder
Alert emails are sent via Postmark, which has excellent deliverability, but some email providers may still filter them. Check your spam folder and mark Blimey emails as "not spam."
3. Alert Cooldown Is Active
If you've already received alerts for an ongoing incident, the escalation schedule may be in a cooldown period. Blimey sends a maximum of 4 alerts per incident:
- Immediately
- After 1 hour
- After 2 hours
- After 24 hours
4. Alert Delay Is Set
If you've configured an alert delay (e.g., 5 minutes), no email is sent until the site has been continuously down for that duration. If the site comes back up before the delay expires, no alert is sent.
5. Verify Your Email Address
Make sure your account email is correct:
- Click your profile icon
- Select Profile settings
- Verify the email address shown is correct
