Downtime Alert Delay
You can set a delay before Blimey sends the first downtime alert. This is useful for sites that have brief, expected maintenance windows.
Configuring the Delay
- Open the monitor's detail page
- Click the Settings tab
- Set the Alert delay dropdown to your preferred duration:
- Immediately — alert as soon as downtime is detected
- 1 minute to 30 minutes — wait for continuous downtime before alerting
How It Works
- The timer starts when the monitor is first detected as down
- If the site comes back up before the threshold, no alert is sent
- If the site remains down past the threshold, the first alert fires immediately
- The site must be continuously down for the full duration — intermittent failures reset the timer
Dashboard Downtime Banner
When any of your active monitors are currently down, a red alert banner appears prominently at the top of your dashboard.
Banner Features
- Shows the count of down monitors (e.g., "2 monitors are currently down")
- Lists each affected monitor by name as a clickable link — click to jump to its detail page
- Can be dismissed with the X button
- Reappears automatically if the set of down monitors changes (e.g., a new monitor goes down or one recovers)
