Alert Cooldown & Escalation Schedule
When a monitor goes down and stays down, Blimey uses an escalating alert schedule to keep you informed without overwhelming your inbox.
Escalation Schedule

| 1st | Immediately (after threshold) | Initial downtime notification |
| 2nd | 1 hour later | First follow-up |
| 3rd | 2 hours later | Second follow-up |
| 4th (final) | 24 hours later | Last reminder |
After the 4th alert, no more alerts are sent for that incident. All counters reset when the monitor recovers.
Custom Cooldown Setting
You can set a minimum alert cooldown per monitor:
- Open the monitor's detail page
- Click the Settings tab
- Adjust the Alert cooldown dropdown
Your custom cooldown is treated as a minimum floor — alerts will never come more frequently than your setting, but may be spaced further apart by the escalation schedule.
How Channels Are Affected
The escalation schedule applies to all channels simultaneously — when an alert fires, it goes to email, Slack, and Discord at the same time. Each channel follows the same schedule.
